Social Media UX Encourages Lunacy
How non-distinguishable user design makes reputability difficult to discern

Growing up in New York City, I’d occasionally run into the unfortunate case of finding myself in Time Square. While this area is the armpit of New York City tourism, it was also the home of what we called “the crazies”. The crazies were not hard to spot, they made themselves quite obvious. I have some examples below.
You learn quickly in NYC that you don’t want to get involved with anything that reaches the decibel level of oncoming traffic, and boy do these poster wielding warriors know how to yell. However, the general reasonable New Yorker can look at these people and immediately tell they are not reputable, factual, or worth the mental energy. Why is this?
Well it’s all about presentation. The posters are often poorly designed or rushed, indicating the individual doesn’t have much self-awareness (otherwise they probably wouldn’t be partaking in their actions). Their aggressive shouting is not…
